You can use them for many different things, and the range of their applications is only growing. However, one problem people run into is how many computers should you really own? For many people, owning one just isn’t enough any more.

For many people, having a decent desktop at home is enough. With enough processor speed, memory and monitor size, you can do pretty much whatever you want. Even if you work from home, this is usually enough to get by. Of course, you’ll have to keep track of which files are for personal use, and which are for work use.

Of course, taking your desktop around town with you, to Starbucks for example, is going to be pretty cumbersome and inconvenient. What To Look Out For When Buying Laptop Computers

Sunday, August 22nd, 2010

Buying a laptop computer is an extremely hard and overwhelming ordeal. Depending on your available budget and inclinations, there are many factors to think of. Considering the money, it is also a critical decision that needs to be considered at great length. Think of the following aspects anytime that you are buying inexpensive netbook or laptop computers.

Although the more money you have to spend, the better device you’ll be able to purchase, you can still score a great laptop for a bargain. You just have to know what you look for. Cheaper laptop computers range in price from three to five hundred dollars and can vary greatly in specifications. For that price, you should be able to obtain one with a dual processor. Dual processors allow the machine to run faster and smoother. The processor and its speed can be found out by checking the computer’s details.

RAM, or random access memory, should be considered before purchasing a new low priced laptop as well. This is the memory that determines how fast the running programs will be. Decent three hundred dollar laptop computers should be able to contain two gigs at least.

If device’s screen size is a key aspect to you, be careful when looking for less expensive computers. Mini laptops are becoming more and more popular and are good products for their price. Only, they feature small, ten inch screens for a cost that is nearly the same as a full sized computer. For the same cost as a mini, you will be able to get at least over a fifteen inch screen.

It’s a good idea to look at the device’s hard drive size as well. This determines the amount of space that the device has to store music, videos, pictures, and other various files. More can always be added later but buying one with a decent amount is a better bet to begin with. There are numerous different brands offering bargain priced machines that also feature hard drives with one hundred to three hundred gigs.

Although most laptop computers come equipped with optical drives, there are still many that do not. Check the computer’s specs for not only the presence of one but the speed and type as well. Good optical drives are able to both read and write CDs and DVDs. Of course, if this aspect of a computer isn’t important to you, it can always be ignored.

For anyone who’s planning on using their computer for gaming purposes, a device with a fairly decent graphic card should be considered. Decent ones will allow you to enjoy most games and websites. But more expensive cards will let you run complex and bigger programs on your computer. Many shoppers find that it is sometimes cheaper to purchase the laptop and graphics card separately, installing the latter on their own.

Last but not least, the device’s accessories should be chosen. If extras like built in web cams, video cards, and wireless capabilities are important to you, look for computers that include them. In many cases, the presence of one of the desired appliances will not effect the product’s price too much.
