If you are on the web in any way and in need of bringing in more money, then you need more Google traffic.
Dollar for dollar, there is nothing you can do that will beat the return on investment that getting more Google traffic will do for you.

For you to win this fierce competition, you need to sit down and focus on a list of your best keywords that are three words or more.

These, my friends are your “long tail keywords” and these are the ones you will need to concentrate on.
Why should you avoid your more general keywords? The ones that are shorter than three words?
Because there maybe so much competition for those that you will never ever get ranked for them.
The real story here is that while there is less traffic for your longer keywords…there is far less competition…and therein lies your opportunity.
And I will point out that if your business is geotargeted…your keywords will become even more focused and those will become even easier to rank for. Simply by adding your targeted locations as part of your keyword mix will dramatically increase your odds of being able to attain rank for that particular keyword.
The sad truth is that is it almost impossible for you to compete for the most general of your keywords.
So then the real question is, do you want to try to compete at a game you will never win, or win a game that is winnable?
And when I say “winnable” I mean that if you are going to put in the time to get more Google traffic, (and it will take some time) then your end game should be to see results. To me and to those that do this, anything besides Google page 1 is nothing. YOU NEED GOOGLE PAGE 1!
Having been at this for the better part of a decade, I will tell you that you can get Google visibility if you play with your longer keywords.
