Tone And Trim Your Lower Body By Treating Yourself To A New Pair Of Winter Boots

Friday, November 5th, 2010

When the clocks go back, you can be certain that winter is well and truly on its way. It gets dark earlier every night and the weather gets a little cooler every day. There will be ice and snow on the ground before you know it. On a positive note, it’s time to treat yourself to a new pair of trendy winter boots.

Clearly there’s no shortage of styles to choose from. Fur boots and leather boots are perennial favorites. Even when it gets really wet and windy you can still be fashionable in a pair of brightly coloured Hunter boots – wellies with style. After all, if they’re good enough for royalty, then they’re always going to enjoy a certain cachet.

But why shouldn’t you demand a little extra from your winter boots this year? How would you feel if your new boots didn’t just look good but helped you to look good as well ?

The latest development in the footwear market is toning shoes. They are specially designed to help you to tone and trim your lower body just by walking about as normal. There are a number of different designs and brands available on the market, including winter boots. They achieve their toning effect as a result of a specially designed sole which makes the leg and butt muscles do a little more work than normal.

Masai Barefoot Technology (MBT) Shoes and Skechers Shape Ups both incorporate curved soles which are intended to reproduce the mechanics of walking upon soft sand. Reebok Easy Tones and Fit Flops sandals, on the other hand, use soles which are designed to generate a very small imbalance whilst walking. The leg and butt muscles attempt to re-establish the body’s natural balance – doing a little more work in the process.

It’s not too difficult to see why the prospect of a lower body workout just by walking around as normal would be an appealing prospect to many people. After working all day, running around after the kids, or just doing general household chores, it can be difficult to find the energy to make a trip to the gym. Toning shoes must seem like the ideal solution for many busy modern women .

Scientific testing seems to back up the manufacturer’s claims that toning shoes generate increased lower body muscle activity. Anecdotal feedback from users also seems to be very positive. Needless to say, there are skeptics. Many question the veracity of the tests, pointing out that they were funded by the footwear manufacturers. Small samples sizes are also cited as a problem. There do seem to be two opposing camps. With that being said, if toning shoes do nothing other than encourage people to walk more and raise their awareness of the health benefits of walking, then that’s still a good thing.

The latest range of FitFlops winter boots will keep you warm whilst still being fashionable. And when the wet weather arrives you can still be cool and trendy in a colorful pair of Hunter boots – the wellies that are worn by royalty!

Choose Golf Shoes Wisely

Wednesday, December 2nd, 2009

Your swing may change with time, your accuracy and distance will improve with practice and strength, and you will become deadly accurate with a putter in time, but you will always do these things while standing on your own two feet and they can get tired.

So, your feet need to be comfortable! Have you ever developed a blister while walking or running? It’s all you can think about and it ruins the experience of what you are doing. Don’t let uncomfortable shoes ruin your game of golf.

This is one area where you shouldn’t let your desire to save money make the decision for you. You will be wearing these shoes many times over a long time and they should be considered a good investment in your game of golf.

Comfortability, not expense, should be your main concern when you are purchasing any shoes, not only golf shoes. Your foot should not move at all at the heel when you walk, but your toes shouldn’t feel at all constrained. Be sure to have your shoes fitted professionally and walk around in them before you actually buy them.

Proper golf shoes should also be waterproof, so that your feet stay dry under damp conditions. Good quality socks are just as important too, as they will wick perspiration away from you feet, keeping your feet dry and comfortable.

All golf courses forbid the use of metal spikes on golf shoes in an effort to protect their delicate greens. Purchase shoes that allow you to change the rubber spikes easily, and while you’re doing that, purchase a few extra spikes as you never know when you may lose one. You should also replace the spikes when they become worn.

You have a lot of things to think about when you are playing your round of golf, but your feet shouldn’t be one of them. When it comes to golf shoes, quality counts, honestly.
